Friends? How Many Of Us Have Them?

Friends, how many of us have them? The ones we can depend on. Wikipedia, defines friendship as the tendency to desire what is best for the other; sympathy and empathy. Honesty, perhaps in situations where it may be difficult for others to speak the truth, especially in terms of pointing out the perceived faults of ones counterpart; mutual understanding and compassion. Trust in one another (able to express feelings - including in relation to the other’s actions - without the fear of being judged); able to go to each other for emotional support; positive reciprocity - a relationship is based on equal give and take between the two parties.

I have been blessed to have a great group of girlfriends. And I would like to dedicate this blog post to my dolls. Having a close relationship with my girlfriends means the world to me. For the most part, my friends and I have been close nsince we were in diapers, or at least middle school. We have been thru good and bad times. We have had arguments and stop talking for months, we agree to disagree. At times, we even have a love hate relationship, depending on our moods. But I wouldn’t change my dolls for the world. I want to spotlight my besties and tell you how much I love them. Let me first start with a person who I can share so much with. My twin sister, Nakita.

Nakita and I are identical twins. And God gave me the best gift in the world. Being a twin is a blessing. Some identical twins are complete opposite. But not me and Nakita….We enjoy all of the same things. We have the same style, share the same interests, we even graduated from college together with the same major. Nakita is outgoing, funny and considerate. She has a take charge attitude and great at leadership. She’s out-spoken, but at the same time sensitive. Believe it or not, we have had a lot of disagreements and have been mad at one another. But I could never stay mad at my sister for too long. Nakita is also our event/travel agent. She loves to plan our group trips. She is my best friend. When no one else is there, I can always depend her. We are as close as two peas in a pod. I can share all my secrets with her. She is my back bone…Some people say twins can feel each others pain. Well, I cant feel her pain, but I can definitely sense when something is wrong. And I cant imagine taking this ride called life without her.

Tiffany and I have known one another since we were babies. I call her family my family. Everyone thinks she’s our sister. Some people have mistaken her for our triplet. Lol. (But they haven’t seen my lil sis Tynika yet) Even, back in our Lake Clifton days, everyone thought she was Nakita’s twin and not me. Lol…I remember, she use to do my hair in high school. One time, she cut all of my hair off, it was so short. She said she was cutting off my split ends, she cut more than my ends. Lol…Tiffany is the most generous person you can ever meet. She would take the shirt off her back for a stranger. She has this bigger than life personality. She loves meeting new people and maintaining the old friendships that she has. Tiff is our groups personal stylist and fashionista! I believe that she is the most dedicated friend in the world. We have had our up-downs and disagreements and she has always had my back. Whether I was wrong or she was right. I can count on Tiffany’s unconditional love. She gives from the heart. And I give it right back to her!

Lateia is the most out-going out of the bunch. She has two beautiful children and a great family! Teia knows just about the whole Baltimore city. Lol…She is very sociable and makes friends easily. Teia doesn’t care what you think about her. You can take your opinion and shove it! Haha……..Teia says things out of her mouth that you would never think about saying. I love her honesty and confidence. She is one of thee best mothers I know. Teia is the life of the party, whether she's doing the dougie, dancing on tabletops in Mexico or just relaxing at her house. You can count on her for a big laugh. Teia and I have this big sister - lil sister relationship. She loves loves to pick with me all the time. Louder than Life! Literally, She is the loud one …whether your inside or outside, you can hear Teia’s mouth. You can count on her for constant support. Teia and I have had little to know arguments. Although, we have so many differences, we share the same similarities at heart. Including the same middle name.... “I love me team “(In my Teia voice) lol

Ryan and I have been friends since jumpers and Reeboks. We bonded as soon as we met in middle school. She is the diva. She loves fashion and shopping. Let me tell you, the girl can shop!! Lol… She has the most handsome son and is the best mother ever! Now, unlike Nakita, Tiff and Teia. Me and Ryan bump heads all the time. I think its because we are so much alike. We argue all the time!! Its primarily, because I get mad at her. For example, she was suppose to get our Chrisette Michelle tickets and she took her precious little time and then they were sold out. You talking about mad!!! I was on fire. However, she did apologize. And I will say, that Ryan has no problem with apologizing if she is wrong. And I have always appreciated her for that. A real woman can always admit their faults. Ryan is not as sociable as the other girls. But let her tell it, she is…..She thinks I’m high saditty. Which, is partially true. Lol. She has had my back since day one and I can talk to Ryan about anything. We talk on the phone for hours, talking about any and everything. She has a great family and I love them like my own. And I cant imagine a better BFF than her!

Arielle is the newest friend of my besties. (Is newest a word?) Anyhoo, we met each other thru our current employer. Now, when she first started, I saw her walking up the hall. And I said to myself, who is that girl with the fierce hair cut. Lol….Riel sat in the aisle across from me, and between her and Antonio (one of my mean girls co-worker) lol…we had a blast. Talking and laughing about everything. Usually, I have my reservations about bringing people into my circle. But I never second guessed Riel’s friendship and that is rare. She had this confidence and swagger about her. And I knew she would fit right in with the other girls. She is the baby of the group. We all took her under our wings with open arms. Now, don’t get it twisted…she’s a sweet heart, but she will slap a chick with the quickness. She is always open for advice. Saying sis, I need some advice. We have also stayed on the phone many nights, talking about everything. Although, I have known her for only a few years, I’m confident that we will continue to be longtime friends.

Last by certainly not least is Candice. I have known Candice for quite sometime now, and we met thru Tiffany. Now, Candice has always been the most adventurous of the group. She can make friends anywhere. I have always admired Candice determination. She gets her mind set on a particular goal and sets out to conquer it. Like putting on a hair show or moving to New York. I respect that about her. She’s not afraid to take chances and risk. Her confidence is out of this world. She has always went against the grain, and did the opposite of what everyone else is doing. She is a new mom to her beautiful daughter. I definitely didn’t think Candice would be next in line to be a mom. But, she is doing an amazing job at motherhood. Although we don’t talk everyday and see one another everyday (because she lives in another state) the love is still there. We can link up after not speaking for months and talk to one another as if we talk everyday. You always want to surround yourself with positive people, and I’m happy to have met Candice and started this friendship. Love her to pieces!
